You may have heard the word "enrichment" before, especially when talking about animal care. It’s all the good stuff that makes a cat’s environment more engaging with boredom-busting, instinct-satisfying fun! This includes cat trees and shelves for climbing, scratching posts, window perches, playtime, and chances to explore and solve problems.
But what about daily enrichment?
Daily enrichment is the hands-on activities we do with our cats every day, ideally at the same times. It keeps their minds and bodies active, helping them feel happy and fulfilled. Some great examples are:
I encourage cat parents to do three enrichment sessions a day, each with a different activity. How long each session lasts depends on what your cat enjoys and needs.
Changing your habits to add in more daily enrichment can be hard at first, but it makes a huge difference in your cat’s happiness and your bond with them. Once you fit this new fun into your routine, you’ll love the positive changes in your cat’s behaviour and connection with you!
